Dave stated that one of the CD’s is coming due in February and one in March. After reviewing available CD and Saving’s account rates, Theresa made a motion that when the February CD matures that the funds from the CD and the majority of the money in the checking account be moved to a interest bearing savings account in order to keep it accessible due to anticipated funds needed to pay for the weed control. Dave seconded the motion and the motion passed unanimously.
Marie moved that when the 2nd CD matured in March to move it to the savings account Dave seconded and the motion passed with one opposed.
Gary is heading up the first ice clean up event. “Leave No Trace” is the theme. He checked with Lakers regarding dumpsters and pricing. He was going to ask about donating dumpsters when he called them back. It was decided that two three-yard dumpsters should be placed at both lake accesses on Friday, Feb. 27th prior to ice houses having to be removed from the lake on March 2nd. Garbage bags will be handed out to the icehouses after the dumpsters are placed so it will be convenient for fishermen to dispose of their trash. The Lake Clean up is set for Sunday, March 8, at 1pm. Additional garbage bags will be handed out to clean-up volunteers. At the January board meeting, Jon mentioned he was going to check with his snowmobile group and Sam with the Sportsman Club to see if they would be willing to come out and help with final clean up on the 8th. Dave and Gary were checking on pricing and size of garbage bag options.
Melissa mentioned in an email that the DNR might be interested in doing a study on the carp in the lake and their movement.
The 3rd Annual Carp Kabob Tournament was discussed, Brad stated that he has already submitted info and obtained a permit for the use of the Cedar Lake Farm from Three Rivers. We will once again have a maximum of 10 boats. The first date of choice for the tournament will be May 15 & 16; the back-up date will be June 5 & 6.
An invitation was sent to CLID from Scott County’s Natural Resources Department for a meeting on March 5 to discuss “No-Wake” ordinance of lakes in Scott County. Theresa volunteered to attend and Dave volunteered to be her back-up if she is unable to attend.
Dave volunteered to draft the letter for the annual meeting. He will bring a draft to the next meeting. Marie mentioned that updated labels could be printed from the Tax Department for the Annual Meeting envelopes. Dave motioned to pay for the labels, Marie seconded the motion and all approved. Marie will obtain the labels and prepare envelopes for mailing.
The information that Brad brought to the January meeting from the Historical Society will be stored in the board records held by Theresa for future informational purposes.
The next board meeting will be held Tuesday, March 10, at the New Prague Library.
