Cedar Lake Improvement District meeting notes from October 9, 2017 from
6:30 – 8 pm at the New Prague Public Library

Attendees: Marie Jaeger, Dave Nielsen, Sam Dresow, Joel Larson, Tim Schroeder and Barb Novotny

Agenda Items Discussed:

Treasurers Report
Carp seining 2017-2018
Don Geyer’s Commitment Letter
Fall Seine Contractor
Basic contract outlining our expectations, costs, etc.

Marie called the meeting to order.

Dave reviewed income & expenses for September and provided bank statements for the board’s records.   A copy was given to Barb for filing with board records.

During the last month, the board had approved of a letter to Don Geyer (the assigned commercial fisherman for Cedar Lake) asking for his interest in completing seining for carp in upcoming three seasons.  Marie overnighted the letter to him in late September and Don returned a signed letter of commitment that confirms he will provide a winter 2018 and spring 2018 carp seine but he rejected a 2017 fall seine.  The board can now focus on hiring a different fisherman for the fall seine since Don turned it down in writing which was a DNR requirement.

Don indicated he does not carry liability insurance when completing seines which board members felt might be an issue and possibly a violation of a DNR requirement.  Tim Schroeder volunteered to contact the DNR for clarification on this and also to verify the board can now hire another contractor for the fall seine.  He will then contact various sources for completing the fall seine in late October or November 2017 and advise the board of his progress.

The directors agreed that a contract should be drafted for any contractor who is hired by the CLID for a carp seine.  Tim Schroeder and Tim Singleton will be working on a draft for board review within the month.

Other potential long-range projects were discussed but no changes or updates at this time.

Barb motioned to adjourn the meeting and Tim Schroeder seconded.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at the New Prague Library from 6:30-8pm.
