Meeting Overview

  • Date: January 5, 2026
  • Attending:   Paul Hoyt, Dave Skogland, John Tuschner Ted Schnaare, Larry Vollmar, Jim Paulson, Scott Sousek (board members)

The CLID Board met to review financials, discuss grant status, and determine next steps for lake management projects, with primary focus on curly leaf pondweed (CLP) treatment and long-term water quality planning.

Key Discussion Points

  • Secretary Report
    • Approved.
  • Treasury Report:
    • No spending last month: earned $7.36 interest.
    • Scott county payment was discussed.  Received $18,622.96 on 12/2/25
    • Approved
  • CLP Treatment:
    • Strong board consensus to pursue under ice treatment this year, pending cost confirmation.
    • PLM will provide quotes and confirm chemical options (Galleon vs. Sonar).
    • Goal: improve effectiveness and reduce need for bump treatments.
  • DNR Grant: Melissa (Scott County) will again file the annual invasive species grant. Board expects continued funding.
  • LCCMR Grant: Previous application for cleaning stations encouraged to reapply in regular cycle (mid-Jan to mid-Feb 2026).
  • Phosphorus Management:
    • Lake phosphorus measured at ~185 ppm—significantly high.
    • Board to pursue a multi‑year BWSR grant targeting staged phosphorus sequestration (initial 20% reduction).
    • Goal: improve water clarity without triggering excessive native weed growth.
  • Three Rivers Park District: Board suggested contacting Three Rivers contribute financially due to heavy park/lake usage. Given the size and usage, the Board felt it should request some financial assistance for lake management.
  • Levy & Long‑Term Funding:
    • Current levy may not sustain future maintenance needs.
    • Board to explore levy increase process and incorporate it into the lake management plan.
  • Annual Meeting: Tentatively scheduled for April 6, 2026. Key topics will include phosphorus strategy, CLP treatment plans, and funding considerations.
  • Next board meeting:  February 2, 2026  6:00 pm New Prague Library
