Cedar Lake Improvement District meeting notes from January 12, 2016 from 6:30 - 8 pm at the New Prague Public Library

Attendees: Marie Jaeger, Brad Eller, Dave Nielsen, Gary Morrison and Theresa Juhl

Agenda Items Discussed:

  • Approval of November's minutes
  • Treasurer's Report
  • Lake Vegetation treatment plan
  • Septic Systems still in existence around the lake
  • Porta Potties for Lake Winter Users
  • Annual Meeting date and agenda
  • Carp Kabob
  • Lake Cleanup

Marie brought the meeting to order. Dave made a motion to accept November's minutes, Theresa seconded.

Dave reviewed income and expenses since October and provided bank statements for the board's records. A copy was given to Theresa for filing with board records. There was one credit for November for the Carp Kabob from Scott County, and one credit for December from Scott County for the 2nd half of the levy. There was one debit for November for the payment of Lake treatment. Theresa turned in a receipt for the file cabinet purchased to store CLID documents.

Brad reported that the DNR has agreed that we will stick to our original Cedar Lake Vegetation Management Plan after some communication received from Melissa at Scott County. Marie suggested that we provide information to the homeowners about cost and treatment options for native weeds along personal lake front property.

Marie stated that she will follow up with John regarding septic systems since he was unable to attend the meeting. His last communication was that he was still waiting to hear back from Cedar Lake Area Water and Sewer.

After discussion and a vote of 3-2, the board approved the rental of one Portable Toilet unit for two months to be placed at the Northwest public access on County Road 64 by West Cedar Lake Road. It was decided to use Town & Country since they didn't require a contract, their low rate of $115/month, and they are a local firm. Use will be monitored so data can possibly be provided to DNR for extending their contracts for portable toilets to include the ice fishing season.

The annual Meeting will be held at the New Prague Fire Hall on April 12. It is the same location as last year. Two board members are up for renewal.

Brad will touch base with Melissa regarding the next Carp Kabob. We would like to hold it mid May with the alternate weekend the 2nd weekend in June.

Gary will head up the Lake Clean Up again this year with a tentative date of March 6th. Planning for this will be done at the February meeting.

The next board meeting will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2015 at the New Prague Library from 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Marie motioned to adjourn the meeting and Dave Seconded.
