Agenda Items Discussed

  • Treasurer’s Report
  • Board replacements for Jon and Gary
  • PO Box Mail Pick up
  • New Buffer Law and any possible lakeshore ramifications
  • Carp Kabob funding, dates and sign-up information
  • Annual Meeting preparation due for review at March meeting
  • Lake “Leave No Trace” update and preparations

Marie brought the meeting to order.

Marie presented the treasurer’s report covering January income and expenses and provided copies to Barb for CLID records.

The board reviewed and unanimously approved a request from Scott Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) for $25 to sponsor various workshops in April that are offered free to residents to learn more about creating raingardens or restoring shorelines.

Two applications were submitted to fill upcoming Board vacancies in April for Jon and Gary.  Tim Schroeder, one of the applicants, attended the meeting to meet the other board members and to experience a Board meeting.

Sam volunteered to pick up the Board mail at the New Prague Post Office Box.

In June of 2015, Governor Dayton signed into law a new buffer initiative aimed at enhancing protection of Minnesota’s water.  Upon further investigation, Barb learned this law only applies to land that is tilled.  If residents have any questions regarding this buffer law, information is provided by contacting the Scott SWCD or visit www.bwsr.state.mn.us/buffers or by calling 952-492-5425.  Noncompliance is identified by anonymous complaint or by the SWCD through routine inspections.

Sam reported that Carp Kabob plans are in the process.  Tentative date is May 19-20.  Application for funding will be made as soon as they are available. Sam will be notifying previous participating teams of signing up.  Only 10 teams can participate in the event and if some of last year’s teams don’t wish to participate, then new teams can apply.  Sam will be updating the applications/general information for posting on the website.

Annual Meeting preparation is in the process.  Notice of meeting will be mailed to CLID residents at the end of March.

Our Lake “Leave No Trace” clean-up initiative has been scaled back due to safety concerns because of the warm weather creating poor ice conditions. Ice houses were to be removed per DNR by March 6 deadline but nearly all have been removed already.  If the weather turns cold again and a fair number of houses are put back out on the ice, Gary may still take out bags to those fishermen.  He’s also considering giving garbage bags to a fishing tournament event later this month if it isn’t cancelled.

Jon motioned to adjourn meeting and Gary seconded.

The next board meeting will be Tuesday, March 14th, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the New Prague Public Library.
